This song got its start at a team prayer meeting one Thursday morning during my internship at Red Rocks Church with Red Rocks Worship. While we were sitting and praying in the Littleton campus auditorium, the Lord started speaking to me about what it meant to run after His heart like David did (1 Samuel 13:14, Acts 13:22).

Thoughts and lyrics started to come to mind as I sat there and reflected on how we can really only run after God’s heart because He gives us the faith and the strength to - for “In Him we live and move and have our being.” (Acts 17:28)

The only reason we can do ANYTHING, is because God gives us the ability to. We sing because HE gives us breath, we love because HE loved us first, we have life because HE gave up HIS life on our behalf.

So this song became a celebratory song giving thanks to the King who overcomes sin and death. The King who is holy. The King who is worthy. The King who pursued us and invites us to pursue Him in response.

Like Mary, we can believe that “He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.” (Luke 1:49)
Like David, we can declare that “He is worthy to be praised…” (Psalm 18:13)
