In heaven, all around the throne of God, worship is taking place at every moment. Revelation 4 and 5 tells of angels, living creatures, saints, and elders surrounding God, joining with all of creation to give all glory to “Him who sits on the throne.” (Revelation 5:13)
This song came out of reading through those chapters. I had sat down with a new pen and a journal and just asked for inspiration and for the Lord’s help to respond to what I’d been reading. Being such a visual thinker, these verses became much more than words on a page - this throne room was a place that I’d gone to and envisioned.
I wrote, “Keep me from striving… keep me in a place of rest and intimacy so that whatever comes is pleasing to You… I want to sing the song that angels sing.”
I looked at the passage and found so many times where the words being sung to God spoke only of His character as worthy and holy and deserving of all the attention. I imagined myself there and this is what I saw and heard.
"Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!" (Revelation 5:12)
lyrics
Verse 1:
There’s a throne in heaven
Where a Saviour is found
Bursts of lightning and
Rolls of thunder all around
Day and night and night and day
Voices lifting up His praise
The multitudes surround Him
King of glory on display
Chorus 1:
Heaven’s angels sing
Worthy is the slain and risen King
Verse 2:
The King of heaven will descend
On a cloud of glory
All creation sing
Holy, holy, holy
The Maker of all things
The Risen Son
Returning for His people
Come Lord, Jesus, come
Chorus 2:
All the earth will sing
Worthy is the slain and risen King
Bridge 1:
All the glory
All the power
All the honor is Yours forever
The glory
All the power
All the honor is Yours forever
The glory
All the power is Yours
Chorus 3:
All Your people sing
Worthy is the slain and risen King
